Katie came to my
family when she was 4-5 months old she was a present.
I never realized the gap in my family without
having a pet there to greet you or just give a
loving kiss on your hand to remind you that they
care and love you.
In the year of 2000 my family was blessed with
the presence of an unwanted kitten that had been
abandoned and found by my children she quickly
became one of our family. She grew very ill because
it had been so mistreated that she ended dieing
and broke all of our hearts because she showed
us that she could forgive someone for just throwing
her away so easily.
My whole family was upset over losing this wonderful
creature that we all decided to visit a shelter
in hopes of adopting another animal that needed
so badly a loving home. We went to the shelter
not knowing what to expect we ended up adopting
a very cute mixed breed puppy and made it part
of the family. As I walked along the cages and
looked in each one and seeing those sad hollow
eyes staring back at me as if to say "Take
Me" then I thought of my own Katie and how
she would be feeling all alone, frightened, the
anixety of just waiting to see if someone maybe
today takes me home or perhaps today is the day
of destruction because no one wanted me.
After we left the shelter that night was nearly
sleepless for me because I saw those pleading
faces and eyes in my nightmares so I decided to
try and make a difference however, I soon realized
that I can not save them all but, for a few I
can be the difference between life and death of
all those unwanted animals that never asked to
be born. The solution to this problem is spaying
and neutering. You know if you ever start feeling
sorry for yourself or over come with problems
just visit your local animal shelter and look
around at all those unwanted animals begging for
homes then tell me do you really have a problem?
My love for Katie my golden retiever my most loyal
and faithful companion over the years has seen
me through good times and the bad times but, she
always stood by me and never looked down on me
when things were not always going so good. She
is now 6 years old and has helped me in raising
2 children you would have thought when they were
babies that they belonged to her because she was
very protective and watchful of them always near
them when they played outside or even at nights
when they would go to bed she was always near.
She made them feel safe, sometimes they called
her theirsecond mommy. I would go insane without
her so I have deciated my life and love to helping
all the unwanted animals I can in her name we
are called "Katie's Rescue".
Thanks to all the people whom has helped us along
the way especially my family and friends for not
thinking I was crazy and showing their support.
We leave you with a thought "God bless all
the animals large or small and please just give
a warm touch or hug, a small bite of food for
the hungry or just a simple kind word to an unwanted
animal because your face maybe the last one they
see."
HOW
TO ADOPT:
Anyone interested in adopting an animal from us
must fill out an application form. This must be
filled out completely. There is an adoption fee
and this varies with each animal. We try to
spay/neuter before the animal leaves us but, if
it is not done it has
to be done. We strongly encourage spaying/neutering.
All dogs are UTD on shots and wormed. We try to
housebreak and crate train our animals so they
can find an indoor home.
None of our animals comes with any AKC papers
of any kind so if you are looking to breed forget
us. We are looking for fenced in yards and
indoor homes for our pets. Each animal is people
and children friendly.
OUR MISSION:
Katie's Rescue acts as a
stop off point for many dogs of all
ages, sizes, and sex for many of these dogs would
have already been
destroyed. They come to us from personal owners,
drop offs, throw
aways, and pounds when there time is up we try
to help out. We work
hard each and every day trying to find new suitable
homes for these
unwanted animals. We love each and everyone no
matter if they are
mixed breeds or pure bred. Age is of no mind to
us because age
sometimes makes a better dog for some people mostly
because they are
already housetrained, leash broke, child proofed,
fed
more and so on, however puppies are very cut and
cuddly as well.
